Military Acronyms and Abbreviations


This page gives in convenient form the military abbreviations which have been authorized for use in combat orders, messages, records, and reports during World War II. With few exceptions all are written without spacing and periods. Dates, when abbreviated, are written thus: 6 Jun 44. Usually a single word is represented by a single capital letter, or by a capital and lower case.
