Citation: John M. Brooks, O417285, Major, 16th Infantry. For meritorious service in connection with operations in the Army of Occupation in Germany from 1 November 1945 to 1 September 1946, exclusive for the period from 16 March 1946 to 21 June 1946. While serving as Regimental S-4, Major Brooks has, at all times, displayed extreme loyalty, outstanding leadership, and exceptional organizational ability. Primarily due to the untiring efforts of Major Brooks, the supply system and records of the regiment have been maintained at a high standard throughout this trying period of redeployment. Displayed Persons Camps, Prisoner of War and Civilian Interment Enclosures within the regimental area have been well supplied and a constant supply of items necessary for troop comfort and welfare have been forthcoming. The zeal and untiring devotion to duty displayed by Major Brooks have been an inspiration to all who work with and under him. Major Brook is hereby authorized to wear the Army Commendation Ribbon by direction of the Secretary of War. Residence at appointment: Houston, Texas.
