Citation: James V. Roe, O1300222, Captain, 16th Infantry. For meritorious service in connection with operations in the Army of Occupation in Germany from 19 December 1945 to 15 September 1946. In addition to his duties as Commanding Officer, Headquarters Company, 16th Infantry, Captain Roe served as Provost Marshal and Fire Marshal during the above period and, although seriously handicapped by the inadequacy of the force at his disposal, discharged these duties in an exemplary manner until relieved on 10 April 1946 by a properly constituted Military Police Battalion. His sound judgement and his ability to obtain the utmost cooperation from civilian agencies has greatly contributed to the all-around efficiency of his unit and is in accordance with the highest traditions of the armed services. Captain Roe is hereby authorized to wear the Army Commendation Ribbon by direction of the Secretary of War. Residence at appointment: Anderson, Indiana.
